Thursday Night Insight Week 8 - 2021 Fantasy Football

Green Bay Packers vs. Arizona Cardinals

Packers Fantasy Insight

Aaron Rodgers is one of the most reliable quarterbacks in all of football. The same goes for fantasy football. Even with some of his best pass catching options being out due to Covid, he’s still someone I’m plugging into my starting QB spot this week without hesitation.

Aaron Jones is always a RB1 and a must start despite the matchup, but A.J. Dillon could be an intriguing flex play this week. I expect this game to be a close one despite Davante Adams and Allen Lazard being out on Covid-IR. Rodgers should never be counted out, and I expect a lot of work through the air heading the running back’s way. For that reason I have no problems plugging Dillon into my flex with confidence expecting that he’ll see some work in the passing game.

Randall Cobb, Amari Rodger, Equanimeous St. Brown, and possibly Marquez Valdes-Scantling will be suiting up to catch balls from Rodgers. I’ll keep this short and sweet. Cobb is the only Packer wide receiver I have any confidence putting into my flex spot this week. The other pass catcher who will play a role is Robert Tonyan. I expect him to have a TE1 week, so make sure to get him into your lineups in Week 8.

With this matchup expected to be a tough one, I’m sitting the Packers D/ST. Mason Crosby is a low-end startable kicker this week.

Cardinals Fantasy Insight

Kyler Murray should finish as a top 5 quarterback this week as the Packer secondary hasn’t lived up to the expectations set this offseason.

Both Chase Edmonds and James Connor are must start RB2’s this year as they’ve been consistently putting up solid numbers. If I had to choose who finishes higher in Week 8, it’s Edmonds simply due to the fact that Connor’s production has been extremely touchdown dependent. That’s not something I want to bet on, but he’s still someone I want in my lineups along with Edmonds.

DeAndre Hopkins is the WR1 in Arizona and should only be out of your lineup if he’s injured or on BYE. He’s going to put up WR1 numbers again in Week 8. Between Rondale Moore, Christian Kirk and A.J. Green, they’re all in flex consideration, but you hope you have the guy who will catch the touchdown pass. All the wideouts for the Cardinals have upside with Murray at the helm. Zach Ertz produced his first week in Arizona, so I don’t see why he won’t continue to do so. He’s a TE1 this week with top 5 upside.

The Cardinals D/ST is 1st overall, while Matt Prater is the 4th overall kicker. Even in a tough matchup I’m starting both with confidence knowing they have produced and should continue to do so despite the matchup.
