Thursday Night Insight Week 5 - 2021 Fantasy Football

Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks

October 7th, 2021 at 8:20PM EST

Rams Fantasy Insight

Week 5’s Thursday night matchup should be a high scoring affair which bids well for Matthew Stafford. The current QB6 is a must start and should have a solid showing against the Seahawks. With the coaching staff wanting to get Robert Woods more involved, it could raise Stafford’s ceiling even more.

Darrell Henderson is officially off the injury report and will be a RB2 again this week with top-12 upside. The Seahawks run defense is weak, so I expect him to have a big game. Through 3 games he's averaging nearly 5 YPC. If he gets the workload on the ground and in the air, he may score 20+ fantasy points.

Cooper Kupp is the top dog as far as wide receivers are concerned. Van Jefferson has had surprisingly high usage and is a flex option along with fellow wideout, Robert Woods. I mentioned earlier that the Rams want to get him more involved, but I want to see it before I believe it. Either way, he's a flex start with the upside he possesses in their elite offense.

Tyler Higbee is cleared to play Thursday and is currently sitting at TE15. I don't have any strong feelings either way, but he's a solid start if you don't have one of the elite tight ends.

Matt Gay is a must start kicker as he’s ranked 4th amongst them. The Rams D/ST have a tough task but are a middle of the pack defense.

Seahawks Fantasy Insight

I expect the Seahawks to let Russ cook this game if they want to keep up with the Rams’ offense. Russell Wilson is a QB1 in Week 5 and is the QB9 on the season.

Chris Carson is a game-time decision. I'm not sure I'd want to start him even if he's good to go. I'm avoiding the Seahawks running back room this game.

D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett should both benefit from Seattle letting Russ cook. Metcalf has a bad history going against Jalen Ramsey, scoring just 4.8 points against him in their first meeting last season. The next game, he mustered up 11.9 points, but he’s a flex option for me in this one. Usually when one of these receivers has an off game, the other explodes for a huge game. I expect Lockett to finish as a top 5 wide receiver in Week 5.

Gerald Everett may be coming off COVID in Week 5 which worries me, while Will Dissly has been underwhelming in his absence. Steer clear of both if you can. They're both too touchdown dependent for my liking.

Jason Meyers hasn't had many field goal attempts this year, but Week 5 could be a turn around week for him. He’s a solid streaming option, but considering we aren't in bye weeks yet, he should remain on your bench or waiver wire. The Seahawks D/ST should also remain there.
