Thursday Night Insight Week 16 - 2021 Fantasy Football

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans

December 23rd, 2021 at 8:20PM EST

49ers Fantasy Insight

Jimmy Garoppolo has been a solid QB2 this year and should be in most Superflex lineups. He isn’t someone who's in the QB1 starter conversation. The Titans don’t have a great secondary which makes Jimmy G a high-end QB2 in Week 16.

Elijah Mitchell is officially OUT, which means Jeff Wilson is the next man up. The Tennessee run defense has shut down running backs all year, so he’s going to have a tough matchup. I still see him finishing as a mid RB2 this week with upside. JaMycal Hasty isn’t startable and should remain on your bench.

Deebo Samuel has been tearing up the fantasy football world as he’s currently the WR5. He’s rushed for six touchdowns in his last five games played. Look for that streak to continue on top of the targets he’ll get as a wideout. Brandon Aiyuk is inconsistent and that’s not something I want to bet on in the fantasy playoffs. Sit him this week. George Kittle has missed three games this season to injury and is still the TE3 overall. His upside could win you a week. He’s an elite start despite the matchup.

The San Francisco 49ers D/ST is a solid start this week. I don’t love the matchup, but I don’t hate it either. Sit Robbie Gould.

Titans Fantasy Insight

Ryan Tannehill has had an extremely disappointing season compared to the offseason expectations. He’s still a high-end QB2 as he’s currently the QB14 overall. He’s getting his best target back in A.J. Brown, which means he should have a solid day in fantasy. He’s a solid start in 1QB leagues and a great start in Superflex formats.

If I had to choose a running back to start out of the cluster of D’Onta Foreman, Dontrell Hilliard and Jeremy McNichols, I’d ride the hot hand in Foreman. He’s a RB3 with RB2 upside. Hilliard sees the passing work so he’s a RB4 with RB2 upside as well. McNichols is a bench regardless.

As I stated earlier, A.J. Brown is expected to be back in Week 16. He’s a WR2 this week, but as always he has the upside of a WR1. I’d start him over a guy like D.K. Metcalf to give you a range of what I expect from him. Julio Jones will play, but I want no piece of him. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and all tight ends aren’t startable this week.

Sit the Titans D/ST and Randy Bullock too while you’re at it.
