Thursday Night Insight Week 14 - 2021 Fantasy Football

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Steelers Fantasy Insight

Ben Roethlisberger is currently the QB22, so he’s not in consideration to start in 1QB leagues. He’s an emergency start option in Superflex leagues, but I wouldn’t be excited to do so.

Najee Harris is the only running back to discuss for the Steelers. He’s one of the best backs this season and is a matchup proof must start player. The RB5 has scored double digit points in 11 of 13 games so far this season.

Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and Pat Freiermuth should all be in fantasy lineups this week. Diontae is the WR7 and has been averaging a whopping 12 targets per game. Start him and expect WR1 numbers. Claypool has been inconsistent all season, but he’s someone with a pretty high ceiling. He’s a strong flex play against the Vikings. James Washington isn’t someone who should be in lineups. Freiermuth has become a big name tight end. Since Week 6, he’s averaging 12.5 fantasy points and is the TE4 during that time. He’s an elite start heading into the fantasy football playoffs.

The Steelers D/ST is the 20th ranked defense, so bench them even with a nice matchup this week. The Vikings have the lowest turnover rate in the NFL, so takeaways will be few and far between. Chris Boswell is the 5th overall kicker, and I’d feel good about throwing him into my lineups.

Vikings Fantasy Insight

Kirk Cousins is having a career year so far and is the QB8 currently. I actually feel extremely comfortable plugging him into my quarterback spot in 1QB and Superflex leagues. I never imagined I’d say this to start the year, but here we are.

Dalvin Cook is questionable heading into the Week 14 matchup against the Steelers. If he plays, don’t start him because he probably won’t see more than 5 carries, but what role does Alexander Mattison look like? If Cook plays or not, Mattison automatically enters the RB1 conversation and must be started by all who manage him. Cook may not even get a carry if active like Darrell Henderson last week.

Adam Thielen has been ruled OUT for Week 14. Justin Jefferson automatically moves into the top 3 wide receiver conversation this week and until Thielen comes back. K.J. Osborn and Tyler Conklin become intriguing names for fantasy football with targets opening up. I believe Osborn will be the bigger beneficiary of this. Osborn is a WR3 for me this week, while Conklin is a low-end TE1. Both are solid starts against Pittsburgh, but both do have low floors.

The Vikings D/ST has been middle of the pack this year and will remain that way in Week 14. They aren’t a defense I want in my lineups. Greg Joseph is the 7th kicker overall and is a solid start this week.
