Monday Night Insight Week 4 - 2021 Fantasy Football

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Raiders Fantasy Insight

Derek Carr has been consistently putting up 22 to 24 point fantasy performances, and I don’t expect that to change. Unless you have a top tier quarterback, Carr is a great start regardless of the matchup.

The running back situation in Vegas is looking rough. Josh Jacobs is a game-time decision and should be sat until we can be more confident in his ability to play. Even if he is cleared to play, I’d be hesitant to put him in my lineup. He’s got the goal line carry responsibilities, but it feels like he’s very dependent on that. Kenyan Drake is a very low-end flex play, while Peyton Barber is a must bench even if Jacobs is out.

The Raiders pass catchers are my favorite fantasy players on the team. Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller are all starting options this week. The wideouts in Ruggs, Edwards and Renfrow are all flex type players, while we all know Waller is a must start. Waller has the ability to win any of his fantasy manager’s weeks.

Avoid the Raiders D/ST, who’s ranked 21st in fantasy and is a must bench as the Chargers offense will be rolling.

Chargers Fantasy Insight

Justin Herbert had a rough start to 2021 through the first two weeks, but balled out in Week 3 putting up 30 fantasy points. He may not do quite that well, but I do expect him to score in the mid to high 20’s against the Raiders in Week 4. I doubt most people have a better quarterback to play, but either way, you can’t go wrong starting Herbert.

The RB5 so far through three weeks is Austin Ekeler who’s averaging 19 points per game. He’s a must start RB1 the rest of the year as long as he’s healthy.

Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are two top-tier wide receivers this year and both should be started no matter what. Even with Allen as the WR14, his 33 targets is more than Wiliams’ 31. He will rise up the ranks this season, while Williams will see some regression, but both will still be a WR1. All other Chargers’ wideouts should remain on your bench.

The tight end situation isn’t great in Los Angeles, but if you need to start a backup, target Jared Cook. He’s the TE22, but he’d be a great fill in for someone who has Rob Gronkowski on their roster.

I’m staying away from the Chargers D/ST unless my main defense has a brutal matchup. They are the #14 defense, so there isn’t much excitement about them in fantasy football.
